Bridesmaid trip Charleston, SC!
Me and my bridesmaids took a wonderful weekend out of our busy schedules to spend some quality time on the beach in Charleston! My MOH did a great job of picking out a comfy townhouse that slept 8 and 1/2. We had a perfect weekend full of relaxation and fun! We met a lot of guys named Matt, did some shopping, hotel hopped, and gained a new understanding about the oceans tide.
Two of my bridesmaids were missing as I have 8, but they will just have to make up for it and party like rockstars in ATL for my bachelorette night in January!
Since our vacay I have been waiting to get my wedding dress back any day now (yay) and designing our save the dates. After much deliberation I think I’m satisfied. I couldn’t find a template I liked so I had to go to making everything custom. The down side to going custom is that it took a little more time. The upside is that I have an original
It was actually a little overwhelming. So I had to call in some help from the Dad. I was able to pry him away from the grips of my little brother and my mother just long enough to get the rough draft done. Now I just have to hope for the best and wait for them to come in!
A special thanks to my girls for getting your bridesmaid dresses ordered! Most brides have to stress and track down the bridesmaids, but we pretty much have it down to a science. I’m so thankful for y’all and this year has been awesome so far with y’all by my side! Can’t wait for our next adventure
Engagement pictures!
We finally got them in! We are very happy with them. We would love to hear you favorite so feel free to comment…enjoy!
Memorial Day Pictures
This weekend Matt and I had about 20 of our closest friends over for a pool party! Some of them included old friends and new friends, lots of groomsmen and bridesmaids, but there were definatly friends that were missed this weekend. We are very thankful for all of out friends that came out and spent the holiday with us though. It was a much needed relaxing break, and a kick off of summer break for all of the teachers. And it ended with a Mexican Birthday Fiesta!
Life Lately
Wow what a world rocking couple of weeks. Thankfully I managed to check a few important items off of my wedding list.
First, I ordred me dress! I can’t wait to see it again. Everyone keeps asking for pictures but the photos online don’t look anything like the dress in person so I haven’t showed anyone yet. Very exciting, and worth the wait.
Secondly, we did a little work on the bridesmaid dresses. Meg :
and Mandy:
took time out of their Friday to drive to Buford and try on a few dress. And have a MUCH needed girls time! I found a “that will work dress”. But on Sunday when I was ordering my wedding dress, I found two bridesmaid dresses that I love! One was simple but very flattering on everyone, and the other had a little more character and will also work on everyone! So currently I’m debating (leaning toward the one with more charactor and hopeing that all my bridesmaids will fell good in it). That decision will be made this weekend though!
Thirdly, I picked up some flower girls and a ring barrer! Meet the fam!:

…looks like I’m not going to be the only diva at my wedding. This weekend is Memorial Day and Matt and I are having a pool party for our bridal party! We are really excited to see everyone and will miss the ones who can’t be there. There will be grilled food, lots of cocktails, and yes…a live band. Is it Friday yet?
Engagement pictures
We were blessed the past Sunday with beautiful weather for engagement pictures! The day couldn’t have been more perfect at just the right temps and just enough cloud cover to not make the sun too harsh.
Matt played baseball at Piedmont College so we decided to take a few pictures on the baseball field and around the campus. We were defiantly not short of places to shoot! The 3 hour shoot turned into a 4 hour shoot because we couldn’t tear ourselves away from the beautiful atmosphere. And our photographer was great! I could already tell from the few shots that she let us peek at that the colors are going to be beautiful in the prints and she was the exact creative brain that I needed. I’m not the best at holding my smile, face, and body in a flattering way in pictures (I always feel like I look awkward) but she did a great job of coaching me ! Check her work out at:

Thanks Jen!
Engagement pictures were defiantly a part of our engagement that I was looking forward to. Matt and I shy away from the camera in public so we have very few pictures with eachother. I knew that this would be a great opportunity to change that and a great excuse to buy more cute frames! But now that it’s came and passed, I almost feel more releved. Maybe it’s my OCD for “checking things off the list” that I have, or maybe it’s because now I don’t have to worry and wonder things like “what should I prepare for”, or “what if something bad happens or gets messed up”. I find it interesting that this is something that I looked forward to so much, but I’m just so glad it’s over and went so well!
Another thing I learned through the shoot is that not everything will go as planned, and thats ok. I did forget things, like bronzer, and this certain lipstick I wanted, but did that really matter? No. Of course not. And guess what. The same type of things will happen at the wedding. And that’s ok. When we pulled up to the baseball field, there was a tarp over home plate and the mound. But can problems be fixed? Of course. And guess what. The same type of problems will be fixed at the wedding. When life gives you lemons, make lemon drops
I will post the engagement pictures here when Jen is done with them. It takes about a month.
On another note, I have picked out the flowers that I want to use for my bouquet. They are “snowdrops” and they represent “hope” among other things.

Mine will hopefully be similar to this one, including the long bow, only a little bigger. These will be the ONLY flowers in our entire wedding. Incase you haven’t heard, flowers, floral centerpieces, and flower petals will be replaced with branches, candles, and crystals. So I did want my only bouquet to be meaningful. Here is what I’ve learned about snowdrops:
Now that the winter season is here, we can only imagine what types of flowers can work best for brides who are planning a splendid and magical wedding in this cold time of year. For this article we though to present you a few images of beautiful snowdrop winter wedding flower arrangements and bouquets that we found on the internet and thought you might want to see. These lovely and pretty types of flowers are among the simplest, light-weight, lovable and delicate types of flowers available for winter and spring time wedding ceremonies and receptions.
We must mention that Queen Victoria chose for her own wedding snowdrops – Prince Albert’s favorite type of flower. Perhaps this fact can convince you that a snowdrop winter wedding flower bouquet or décor arrangement can really make an inspired choice for your own wedding.
These charming and breath-taking beautiful types of flowers can be found on the market from January to April and they make in general a very personal choice for many brides of today. Snowdrops are the messengers of spring and they usually stand for new beginnings, fidelity, eternity, ever blooming love, innocence, warmth and affection, delicacy, refinement, purity, truth, inspiration, sensuality, femininity, romance, friendship, understanding, commitment, freshness, hope, divinity, faith, unity and tolerance. These lovely flowers can only be found in the white shade and this is why they can work excellent for formal classy winter wedding ceremonies and receptions. The small bell-shaped flower blooms make them enchanting flowers that can win even the most insensitive heart or the most pretentious and hard to impress bride.
I’m slowly getting things checked off of my “knot” list! This weekend we are having a girls weekend with some of my bridesmaids (I wish the rest of ya’ll could make it, we will miss you!). Wine, sushi, and pool, will be enjoyed all weekend. Saturday we are going bridesmaid dress shopping! Hopefully we will come back with another decision made!
To matt’s friends:
One thing about a Brooks is when you’re with a Brooks, you also get their friends. So I guess you could say that matts baggage was his 10,000 friends (a good kind of baggage). When we asked some of you to be in the wedding, we know that it’s asking a lot. Being in a wedding takes a lot of time, money, and energy in general. Ever since we have been engaged our friends have been an amazing support! Thank you for making time to be apart of this because the reason you are apart of our lives is because we love you and want to spend more time with you!
We want our friends to feel appreciated as much as you make us feel. So thanks for coming to all the events and parties, and driving long distances, and eventually standing up there with matt while we are getting married (but don’t forget, you are getting free drinks)! Thank you for making time for us and making this year a priority. We love you guys!
